As an introduction to calligraphy, the exercise was to study the history, and the hand, of one script of our choice.
This one was a Capitalis Quadrata (or just Quadrata) from the ancient Roman Empire. It was the handwritten version of the trajan capitals used in the facade of the buildings.
We were also asked to apply the alphabet to a real text. I chose the Genesis, from the Bible.
